I'm all for saving a spider that's wandered into my house. I'll swoop him up in a cup and throw him outside, but I'll warn him if he ever sneaks in again I'll kill him. You have to be firm but fair with spiders.
P.S. I might, on occasion (almost always), verbally reprimand the spider as I'm tossing him in the rose garden outside. I'm sure I look insane.
