I bought Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth on CD; a little spiritual companionship on long drives. Driving always provides some interesting, rarely complimentary, visuals for an audio book.
For instance, while heading to work this morning Eckhart posed a series of questions:
"Is humanity ready for a transformation of consciousness? Can they defy the gravitational pull of materialism and materiality and rise above identification with form which keeps the ego in place and condems them to imprisonment within their own personality?"
As I pondered, I passed a teenager gansta sauntering in baggy jeans, a wife beater, and backawards baseball cap.
No, Eckhart. No we're not.
