Old Boy

While out for a walk, and very miserable, I crossed paramedics hustling to load someone into an ambulance. The man laid out on the stretcher was gasping into an oxygen mask. He was suffering deeply, yet he was fighting to live. I felt small, and unappreciative. I doubt life is worth living; I perceive it as a throwaway nothing. He, however, affirmed it's worth the struggle.

I needed the reminder.
