Their Eyes Were Watching God

I'm surfing the television channels and passed over a rerun of Sliders (that old tv series I'm going to pretend is still relevant). I've never understood this series, or any show that deals with dimensional jumping. The leaping and the sliding always seems to dump people in very warped worlds.

Losing the Cold War? Breeder prisons? Psychics? Each universe is so drastically different. What about the parallel universe with one less blade of grass or one more pine tree. Have you considered how many worlds exist simply with varying grains of sand. Statistically that seems like a far likelier dimension to get dumped to.

"Where did we jump to? A land of Nazi dinosaurs?"
"I don't know."
"Nooo! Is it another dimension with an over abundance of flowers?"
"Could be."

Sure, it's not as fun as tinkering with the Revolutionary War, but it seems more honest.
