A few days ago, a friend asked, "are you ever serious?" That hurts. I don't walk up to someone and say, "are you ever funny?" That stings. So does, "Serious? Ever?"
Truth is, I'm frequently serious, it's just wrapped up in a joke. I don't bother telling people an actual thought is tucked away in there. If you see it great, and if not, what would I say?
"I prefer you didn't laugh, but, instead, hold your chin, nod your head, and go 'hmmmmm. Interesting.'"
Humor is a great vechicle for truth. Consider Colbert Report or Daily Show; they make a point while making a joke.
I might, however, purchase a sign that says, "Now Open for Serious."

Was I?
Yeah, you made reference when we were at Salathai that you enjoy being serious, so you're not always "on"...something to that equation :)
I do like being serious. Sometimes, however, it's sarcasm, or irony, or something like that, and that's 'jokey.'
