I like to take a strong stance on offbeat things.
For instance, Fable 2.
Fable 2, brainchild of famed video game creator Peter Molyneux, was one of the best reviewed games of 2008, and a sales juggernaut. And, while my gaming peers love the action, role-playing epic, I refuse to play. Why? Why would I turn my back on a critical and commercial success?
Gloves.
The main characters' gloves are comically large. Really, Peter, how can I immerse myself in something so absurd? Every hand looks like the love child of Shaq and Andre the Giant. I refuse to play Fable 2 over glove size.
Or, consider the film Seabiscuit. I have heard the horse movie is touching, but I won't see it.
There are to many browns.
The color palette for the entire film are somber browns. It's a dirt rainbow! When will the industry stop choking depression era films with browns. I get it! Millions were tragically poor and sadness was omnipresent. Were colored dyes outlawed during the depression? I bet there were lots of colors. Don't short change an era of their color because it's convenient. Sure, their life was tough, but stop conveying it with brown.
So, I have taken a stand, and because of brown, I refuse to see Seabiscuit.
I have chosen my battles wisely. At least, I think so.
