What I've Learned About Teaching Within The "Learning Resources" and "Severely Handicapped" Classrooms

The distinguishing feature of these classes: a handful of teachers pleading with students disinterested in learning. The major handicap that seems to hold these kids back is their disgust for learning. If ignorance is bliss, these kids are committed to maintaining happiness.

The teacher, assistant and administration tug the resistant student forward, giving them the false hope the world will forever coddle and wait patiently for their success. Unfortunately, this is a huge disservice. The world won’t wait, and won’t blink when it steam rolls over their hopes. Too cruel? I don’t think so. I think it’s precisely what someone needs to tell them. Show them how far down they can spiral. They need to know the bottom, and want to run screaming from failure.
