See Before Sunset

So I watched Before Sunset tonight, and, oh! I love that movie. It's one of the best films of 2004. Go see it.... it’s so beautiful. The movie is strictly conversation. Some movement, but it's minimal and insignificant. Here's a crude description of the film: A couple wander about Paris catching up on the past seven years. Linklater films are so rich with ideas (Slacker, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise, Waking Life, Tape…. oh hell…. just look at his whole oeuvre) you won't absorb everything discussed in your first viewing. But, then again, you're not supposed to. The characters are complex, weighty, they'll bring you back for multiple viewings, and that's when the ideas will sink in. Meandering and bantering, it's the crux of the film. In allowing the characters to grow, the plot is - intentionally - casual, and that's not criticism, that's praise.

P.S. Consider viewing Before Sunrise prior to Before Sunset. It'll provide some important backstory. And it really sets the mood!
